 This feature was implemented via derivation for "DataFlow" iterators in
 the serialization library.  It is described in a page in that library at
 libs\serialization\doc\dataflow.html

 I don't think that actually adding the feature would be a huge deal.  But
 a good tutorial document on the utility of such a feature would take some
 effort.
