Comment:

 "binary_iarchive doesn't work with wide characters and strings."

 Why do you think this? As far as I know binary_i/o archive works with
 both.

 I see no reason why anyone would need/want to use binary_w?archive.  It
 was an accidental side effect of using a template to implemenat
 binary_?archive.
