A Ubuntu user reported that cElementTree is shipped with standard Python
2.5, and supplied a patch to allow Pyste to use it instead of the external
 cElementTree module. See http://bugs.debian.org/489022

The supplied patch is that applied to Debian builds of 1.36.0.
