 Thanks for calling this to my attention.

 I just built from trunk (using gcc "i686-apple-darwin9-gcc-4.0.1 (GCC)
 4.0.1 (Apple Inc. build 5484)", which is a stock Xcode 3.1 install) and
 did not have this happen. I adjusted my user-config.jam to be similar to
 yours.

 Next, I will try with the release and an identical user-config.jam.
