Ticket #2671 describes a scenario where accumulators causes an integral
overflow. The simple solution there is to use doubles, but the larger
issue is how to accommodate both fast, unchecked integral arithmetic and
slower checked arithmetic. This is an open design issue, and it probably
makes sense to come up with a uniform solution across all math-related
 libraries in Boost.
