 I think you've missed that bit in docs:

    Starting from Boost 1.35, bjam erases the generated executables (e.g.
 pyd file).
    To keep bjam from doing that, pass --preserve-test-targets to bjam

 This is no longer the case in 1.39, so I have adjusted tutorial to no
 longer say that ([53379]), and this ticket should be now fixed.
