 It looks like as of 1.46.0 (and svn on 3/4/2011) thread still fails to
 compile with -fno-exceptions. This patch does not look to have been
 entirely merged. For example, boost/thread/pthread/thread_data.hpp does
 not contain the "#ifndef BOOST_NO_EXCEPTIONS" guard around "throw
 thread_interrupted();".
