 I'm wondering if this is a Samba bug, rather than a Boost.Filesystem bug.

 Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Samba, so that makes it very
 difficult to test.

 If you could run your test program under a debugger and let me know where
 (i.e. what line in what function) the crash is occurring, that might help.
