 I am fully aware of the standard wording, because I wrote it. The reason
 it is complicated is a) that it has to handle two overloads and b) it is
 the wording for {{{binary_search}}}, which is more complicated than the
 wording for {{{lower_bound}}} (so no fair comparing those two). I don't
 see any advantage in making programmers learn a new way to think about
 this same concept that they will already know from the standard, but it's
 your library.
