 Hi Marvin,

 hmm, good observation. But it's not easy to improve. I reduced the number
 of default contstructions by making the data member in class template
 identity_element static. Apart from that, since the code is generic and
 correct and I don't have a substantial improvement, I will leave the code
 as it is.

 If you can provide a patch that works with all tests, you may send in a
 patch. For now I will close the ticket.
