 The documentation here:

 claims it should exist; however, the attached code shows it only
 exists for filtering_stream<input>.

 This missing member function was mentioned in another ticket:

 https://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/ticket/4590


 but that one did not request the documentation be changed.
