 The attached code generates an empty interval when compiling to a 32 bits
 binary (i.e. passing the "-m32" flag to gcc) on a 64 bit machine (running
 Mac OS X).

 It works correctly when compiled to a 64 bits binary (i.e. omitting -m32).
