Comment:

 I understand that the binary archive is not portable. But, this problem
 is not related to trying to work ACROSS different environments. It occurs
 completely within a single environment (OS X + clang in this case). The
 short example code posted in the original submission produces an exception
 on OS X 10.7.5 building with clang 425.0.28.

 I am re-opening the ticket as I feel the answer addressed a different
 problem than is being encountered here.
