 The broader problem is that neither Boost.Filesystem nor the C++
 Filesystem Library TS supports globbing. See
 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glob_%28programming%29

 So rather than tackling your suggested change, I'll take a look the more
 general glob match problem.
