I'm totally clueless here. What's OSF and AIX? Do have have "posix" as the
value of "os.name" in Python? Hmm... how can we detect that we're on OSF or
AIX? The simple approach is to invove "uname -a" (do they have it?) and
parsing its output, that this is ugly.
