I don't understand you now.
[ property.as-path <toolset>gcc <toolset-version>3.2 ]
produces "gcc-3.2", and
[ property.as-path <toolset-version>3.2 <toolset>gcc ]
produces "gcc/toolset-version-3.2". Looks like a bug to me.
