AIX: bjam -sTOOLS="gcc vcapp"

I'm unable to build boost 1.30.0 libraries for gcc under AIX 5.1, and
I'd like to know whether anyone knows the way around problems that
I've encountered.

1) If I try to build boost with GNU tools, the build fails when gnu ld 
is run with the command-line parameter --export-all-symbols. The 
version of ld is "GNU ld version 2.13.2.1", which is not the newest, 
but not that old. Newer versions of GNU ld on my linux boxes (e.g., GNU ld
version 2.13.90.0.18 20030121) also don't support --export-all-symbols.

2) If I try with Visual Age C++, the build fails with the error 
ld: 0711-317 ERROR: Undefined symbol: .main
and ...failed xlc-Link-action
libs/regex/build/bin/libboost_regex.so/vacpp/debug/runtime-link-dynamic/\
libboost_regex_debug.so 
libs/regex/build/bin/libboost_regex.so/vacpp/debug/runtime-link-dynamic/\
libboost_regex_debug.imp...
...updated 55 targets...

Does anyone know how I can get around these problems?
