Yes but these C++ compilers are very expensive (i.e. you can buy a 
top-notch linux machine for this kind of money)! However a C compiler is 
generally included for free together with the OS.

We bought all the C++ compilers so for me it is not a problem. However I 
could imagine that a java-developer would want to use bjam but has no 
C++ compiler to recompile bjam.
