[v2] rule obj

Hi,
I am trying to get some understanding of how the build system works.
A Jamfile has the the following statement:
obj aobj : a.cpp ;
This looks very much like an invocation of the rule "obj". Is this 
correct? Where is the declaration for the rule "obj"?
