My last remark on this topic:

One of the main reasons to use a single name is that it's easier to
document/explain, which is nearly always an indication that it's a
better design. If you look at the current way I have documented
Jamroot/Jamfile you'll see that it's *still* a bit twisty, and I spent
quite a while figuring out how to do it.
