That may be because building Java stuff has an inherently steeper
learning curve than building C++ stuff.

Only expect that to actually speed you up if you really need BBv2's
platform-agnostic build descriptions and other high-level features.
Lots of people get moving quickly with less abstracted systems like
Scons and never need the power of BBv2.

But I don't mean to discourage you from learning more. On the contrary,
it's very useful to have someone so interested in the details to help us
expose the documentation problems (especially right now).
