You are right: there are no toolsets for VMS, so, you cannot build
boost automatically on this platform.
You can use headers-only libraries by just specifying the correct
include path. You can build other libraries with a simple DCL script
(or with a bash script if you work in a GNV environment). I have some
DCL scripts and can share them with you. If you're interested, please,
contact me directly.

The architecture does not really make too much difference. Just make
sure you use latest compilers on both platforms. iVMS has a better STL,
a more recent version of Rogue Wave library, and more boost tests are
passing on iVMS than on Alpha.
We have at least one customer using boost extensively on both Alpha
