OK... I've done equivalent testing with msvc-8.0, msvc-7.1, forcing a 
fake msvc-9.2, and compared it to what gcc.jam does. And I checked the 
change into HEAD. So now I'm waiting for Thomas to show up so I can ask 
him permission to check it into RC.
