I needed this because the current build system works this way - other projects depend on these headers. We don't want to break it...

... and the bad thing is that there is no way to change it. Not even
for your custom generator that does not have anything to do with
compiling cpp and/or different build variants :(.

I have some hopes in the ongoing python port. One of the stated goals
is better extensibility.

PS. When you do not need to change the default behavior it works great
though.. :-/
