Didn't know that option existed. I had to add \user-config.jam to the
end of your string but that is much better. It wasn't mentioned at
http://tinyurl.com/78kcq7 so I thought modifying HOME was my only option.

My original problem still stands of trying to run quickbook.exe et al
from a relative path.

I can post output from bjam if it helps.
