Consider the example property: <link>static.
 
The "grist" would be "<link>".

In the documentation for Variable Expansion in the Boost Build doc I read:
 
 "A variable element's string value can be parsed into grist and 
 filename-related components."
 
 What does "grist" mean in this context ?
