Why is boost::mpi "disabled" on apple?

The bjam build system produces functional boost::mpi libraries on my Mac.  I would love to migrate to the CMake build system, but this is a show-stopper for me.

Is there a way to "enable" boost::mpi, or is there a good reason that it is "disabled"?
