Go to your boost root directory and:

bjam -sTOOLS=gcc -sGCC_ROOT_DIRECTORY=/usr/local/gcc-3.1

If you want the Boost.Python library, be sure to follow the directions
at http://www.boost.org/libs/python/doc/building.html
