This must be a mystery as I asked this question a while ago and still haven't gotten a single response. I was trying to compile with version 1_29_0, but will try it with 1_24_0.

if compiling with boost 1.24.0 ... it works fine
but compiling with boost 1.28.0 and 1.29.0 ... WRONG
