Well, it's related to the extent that it prevents date-time from working...

This is VC7 I presume?  I'm afraid that the new i/o code is incompatible with
VC7, for a variety of reasons, and I have no intent to try and support it. 
Anyway, I may be able to fix the other parsing bug in time for 1.33, but that
won't help you with wide chars...
