I'm curious, why was USE_DATE_TIME_PRE_1_33_FACET_IO defined?

This compiler should be using the newer IO code.

There have been problems with wide char support/vc7.1/stlport but I'm not
sure this is the problem here. There are details on it in the docs
(http://tinyurl.com/ce5hy).
