Based on your eloquent description I'm guessing you're running ms-dos 6.5 and have eclipse 0.5 beta installed in text mode.

Perhaps the situation is different, in which case I would need correcting.

  i'm about to make my first steps with boost... unfortunately
  eclipse says "boost/shared_ptr.hpp: No such file or directory";

  i've included the boost-path, so what's my mistake?
