As long as you make sure that the dll is loaded before main,
you can use the auto-registration mechanism. This works
with msvc:
// test.cpp (compiled into a dll)
#include <boost/test/unit_test.hpp>
BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE(test1) {
BOOST_CHECK(true);
}
__declspec(dllexport) int f() {return 0;}
// main.cpp
#define BOOST_TEST_MAIN
#include <boost/test/unit_test.hpp>
__declspec(dllimport) int f();
static const int i = f();
