attached is the self-contained example. It fails with a linker error on 
Boost 1.38.

Commenting the BOOST_CLASS_EXPORT line in the example removes the linker 
error.

Sorry, really did miss this post. I tried changing the linker flags 
position in the self-contained example as suggested but it did not help.
