Your test program looks ok to me.

To be sure I tested with Boost 1.38.0 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
x86_64 (2 CPUs/4 Cores).

It completed 1300 times without any errors/assertions.

Seems to be a MacOS X specific issue.
