I have the same problem on Ubuntu 8.10 32bits with the following command:
$ ./bootstrip.sh --prefix=$HOME/usr/
$ ./bjam install
Do there is a workaround? for example, can I do something like that:
$ cp **/*.{a,so} $HOME/usr/lib/
