Einav,
attached is a crude test program which performs zlib, gzip and bzip
compression. I used it for performance tests (size and time).
There is a bug in gzip-decompression:

The attached code shows both, what works and what does not.
There also is a bug in bzip compression:
https://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/ticket/2411
The code uses the way that works :-)
