the line after that is a call to:

        detail::packed_archive_send(comm, dest, tag, oa);

and in that function:

void packed_archive_send(MPI_Comm comm, int dest, int tag,
                    const packed_oarchive& ar)

you immediately print the strange number:

Do you agree? If so, this is a clear optimizer error.
