Thanks. By chance I'm implementing this for Boost.Geometry at this 
moment... But called it (or propose to call it) "dissolve". It is a 
necessary phase after buffering a polygon, at least the way I 
implemented it. But it can also be used separately, e.g. to remove 
internal boundaries from mutually bordering polygons in a multi-polygon.

Any objections to the name dissolve?
