Good point, I intended to remove them all on member functions. But I 
realized seeing this that I've also removed them from the free function 
area.
I will check if this is significant and come back to it. Personally I 
suspect the inline on "loop", if you omit it than it is not inlined for 
gcc 3.x. Will check that also.

By the way, I wanted to answer some more reactions on topics sent but 
cannot do it now, will be later.
