[boost] Any way to get .zip files from eGroups site?

In private email, Paul Baxter asked if there was any way to download
the entire vault as a .zip file for offline browsing.

I also have wanted to download all past messages as a .zip file so I
could do fast searches.

It doesn't seem either of these requests can be met directly by any
commands on the eGroups site.  Perhaps someone can figure out an
automated procedure to query the eGroups site.

But at least for the short term, the best workaround may be for those
uploading multifile vault postings to include a .zip file containing
the other files.
