I'm inclined to keep class timer simple.  It doesn't promise much, so isn't 
likely to deliver less than promised.

High resolution timers on the other hand may well promise much more but 
then sometimes fail to deliver.  See the last paragraph of 
C:\boost\site\libs\timer\timer.htm.
