I think I'll just buy out of this argument.
I have suggested an approach that reduces the complexity
of designing generic function combinators to constant
complexity for the one off linear cost of providing
a tuple type.
I know this approach works, because I implemented
it years ago. I also know that there are limitations,
and that those limitations stem from the core language
design.
