There is a real need, both for Boost and for the C++ standard library.
It would definitely be useful to start with a feature diagram.
I think one of the reasons Joseph has had some difficulties may have been
an assumption that it was just a simple problem and that there wasn't any
need for a design discussion with other Boost participants.
If you are interested, I've identified some of the requirements and have
the start of a bibliography. Contact me privately.
