[boost] RegEx enhancement request

As ever some excellent ideas there - I'm tied up with other things at the
moment, but a regex update is next on the list - or at least that's the
plan :-)  Basically I want to merge the new config stuff before working on
the regex headers (which need changing for the new config anyway).
