Compacting IDE/make files?

Some of the libraries have a lot of building files (MSVC++ *.dsw or GCC
Makefile) to make example code on the author's system.  Could these be
compacted (to *.zip) first to reduce the disk space of Boost on platforms
that can't use the build files?
