If it's just legalise that we are worried about, why not borrow a license 
that has been around for a while? Then we would know that it's already gone 
through somebody's lawyers somewhere. 

The BSD license comes to mind:

The only change we would need to make to comply with the Boost licensing 
requirements would be to remove the requirement that binaries contain the 
copyright & disclaimer (i.e., the second bullet).
