Fwiw, it wasn't for us ignoring this issue. Indeed I think it is one of
the most critical bugs we have. But the compiler that this got fixed in
unfortunately did not mature fast enough for 7.0, and the architecture
of the 7.0 compiler did not lend itself to the proper implementation.
We goofed, and we know it. But please know that we know that this one
is very important. I have personally experimented with an alpha
compiler that does get is_convertible right. But I can not speculate on
a ship date.
