Nice work.
I'm a little concerned that a lot of the concepts
that are being wrapped up (notus/gdi/bitmap.hpp) are
not portable concepts. The idea of a HBITMAP being
wrapped up with detail namespaces and typedefs etc.
for source compatibility is very nice... but... I
have my doubts about how portable it is (X, Carbon).
I think a lot of rework would be avoided by doing
the initial proof of concept work in parallel on
Win32, X and Mac. These three platforms are so
radically different any Win32 conceptual hangovers
would be identified early.
The design docs look good. What does remain to be
seen is how message despatching (X event loop,
Win32 API message handlers, Mac??) works across
platforms.

Subject: [boost] Notus, GUI/GDI template library
Maxim Egorushkin reported that my original message
ended up in the "Safe bool idiom" thread.
So I am reposting it again. Sorry if you have
already seen it.
--- As far as I could tell, there was some interest toward a GUI template at this mailing list. I have downloaded some design specs and a sample applcation to the Files section on the www.sourceforge.net/projects/notus site. It runs on win32. The doc folder contains the notus_sample.pdf file that describes the code and how to build it. The doc folder has several Notus design drafts as well. All docs are in pdf and OpenOffice formats. Any comments on the design are welcome. Eugene FYI: The sample app pictures are a flower from my backyard and Helix and Swan Nebulas from Hubble Space Telescope Public Pictures. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
