I don't think I agree. In the regression tests the following test the wide
stream functionality and are passing for VC7.1. See the test results for:
test_time_wstream_std_config
test_time_wstream
test_greg_wstream

You will note that VC7 appears to fail. For VC6 the widestream output tests
are disabled so that's why they pass. I've been meaning to change that so it
is clear that VC6 does not support this capability.
